Chain hoists, as a common lifting tool, can range in tonnage from 1 to 100 tons. There is a close relationship between the number of chain rows and the lifting speed, which also affects the actual hand pull. Understanding the relationship between the two will help you choose a more suitable chain hoist, thereby improving operational efficiency and safety.
Chain hoist chain rows refers to the number of chain winding, that is, each chain winding through the number of chain layers. Ratchet Lever Hoist chain rows are usually divided into single chain, double chain, four chain, eight chain and other different types.
Single chain hoist (1~2ton): Usually used for small, light objects handling.
Double chain hoist (3~5ton): suitable for medium weight objects, providing better stability and lifting capacity.
Quad chain hoist (8~10ton): Suitable for heavy objects, providing higher lifting capacity and greater safety factor.
The lifting speed of a lifting hoist refers to the speed of the chain in lifting the load per unit of time, usually measured in terms of how many meters per minute (m/min). The number of chain rows directly affects the hoist's lifting speed in the following way:
When the number of chain rows is small, the hoisting speed is relatively fast.
When the number of chain rows is small (e.g. single chain block), the chain movement is larger during each lift and the required chain length is shorter, so that the lifting action can be completed more quickly.
With a large number of chain rows, the lifting speed is slower.
When using multiple rows of chain (e.g. double or quad chain hoists), the lifting amplitude of each row of chain is smaller, so more chain movement is required to complete a lifting action, resulting in a relatively slow lifting speed.
Simply put, the larger the load capacity and the greater the number, the slower the hoisting speed.
Choosing the right chain hoist requires comprehensive consideration of the number of chain rows and lifting speed, as well as the weight of the load, lifting height and operating environment and other factors.
If you want to observe the relationship between the tonnage of hand chain hoist, chain specification and the number of chains in more detail, you can refer to our products: Chain fall hoist
If you want to lift fast and the number of chains should be less, usually need to be customized, and if the change is too big it is easy to affect the performance of the whole lifting hoist, so try to choose the corresponding model. Because the fewer the number of chains, means that a single lifting load chain the greater the load-bearing capacity, if the 5ton hand chain hoist also use a single chain, then not only need a lot of hand pulling force, but also the chain carrying capacity will be raised, easy to overload, the use of a very unsafe, so it will be a double common load carrying capacity.
