Description

Structure

Bell anchors have two claws, which are shaped like the letter "Y". The claws are relatively wide and can provide greater grip. The crown part is relatively thick, which plays a role in connecting and strengthening the structure. From the side, its structure presents a curved shape, and this curved design helps the anchor to embed better in the seabed.

Anchoring method

When the ship reaches the location where it needs to anchor, the crew will throw the Bell anchor into the water through the windlass. Under the action of gravity, the anchor will sink. Due to the design of the anchor rod, the anchor tends to penetrate the seabed at a suitable angle (usually the claws are facing down) when it contacts the seabed. As the ship retreats or moves under the action of water flow and wind, the claws will gradually embed into the mud or other bottom materials on the seabed.
