Description
Studless Anchor Chain is the core component of the ship's mooring system, through its modular design and excellent tensile strength, to ensure the stability of the ship's mooring in the complex marine environment. The studless chain consists of removable chain links with no support in the middle, each link is connected by welding or forging process, which allows the chain length to be increased or decreased according to the actual demand, and flexibly adapts to different water depths and seabed terrain.
Marine gearless anchor chain is used for linking between ship and anchor.
Surface treatment: black paint, blackened, galvanized
Grade: U1 U2 U3
Specification: 12.5-124MM

Anchor chain ring shape: 6D*3.6D (D refers to the anchor chain body diameter)
Available: CCS,BV,LR,ABS,NK,KR,DNV-GL,RINA,RMRS,IRS certificates
Safe load and breakage refer to GBT549-2017 national standard for welding anchor chain
Selection of key parameters
Vessel tonnage Vessels below 10,000 DWT can choose AM2 grade, and super-large cargo ships need AM3 or higher grade.
Mooring depth For every increase of 10 meters, the chain length should be increased by 1.5 times of the water depth to ensure the anchor grip.
Sea floor geology Rocky sea floor should be selected to increase the chain diameter by 10%-15%, while silt geology can be adapted to standard chain diameter.
Load Calculation Example
Take AM3 grade studless link anchor chain as an example:
Chain diameter 22 mm: breaking load 401 kN, working load (WLL) is 1/5 of breaking load (about 80 kN).
Safety factor: additional load redundancy of 20%-30% is required for dynamic sea conditions.
International Compliance Standards
Material standard: Raw material should comply with GB/T 18669 marine anchor chain round steel specification, carbon content ≤ 0.27%, sulfur and phosphorus impurities ≤ 0.035%.
Manufacturing standards: the implementation of GB/T 549-2017 “Electric Welding Anchor Chain” and EN 818-2 (EU), ABS (US) certification requirements.
Testing requirements
Ultrasonic flaw detection (UT) to detect internal cracks 4.
Magnetic particle testing (MT) to verify surface integrity
Recommended selection
AM3-81mm Heavy Duty Anchor Chain: Breaking load 4,820 kN, suitable for 300,000 tons class tankers.
AM2-32mm Economy Anchor Chain: The first choice for cost-effective anchors, suitable for inland vessels and offshore operations.
